This is what the HSV dreams of: for the second time in a row since the founding of the German Sailing League, the NRV has won the German club championship

FC Bayern Munich is in the lead in the Bundesliga after six match days. Hamburger Sportverein, on the other hand, is in 18th and last place with just two points. The traditional club, which has once again stumbled, can only dream of the success of the Hamburg sailors. For the second time in a row, the Norddeutscher Regatta Verein (NRV) has won the German Sailing Club Championship. This time even more clearly than in the founding year of the still young German Sailing League. The Hanseatic team no longer has to wait for the home finale on Hamburg's Outer Alster from 31 October to 2 November to celebrate their championship. Their third victory in the fifth of a total of six league regattas this weekend on Lake Constance off Friedrichshafen was already enough to successfully defend their title.

With their victory on Lake Constance, Carsten Kemmling, David Heitzig, Florian Weser and Tim Stilkenbäumer ensured that the championship trophy can remain in the new NRV clubhouse on the Alster for another year. Second place on Lake Constance went to the local heroes from the Württemberg Yacht Club (WYC) and the Konstanz Yacht Club (KYC). The WYC crew led by helmsman Max Rieger missed out on victory at home by no more than half a point after a strong performance. In the Bundesliga table, the Seglerhaus am Wannsee club (VSaW) and the German Touring Yacht Club (DTYC) are vying for second place with just three points between them ahead of the season finale.

A total of 144 sailors from 36 clubs transformed Friedrichshafen into the busiest regatta harbour in Germany at the weekend, parallel to the Interboot. In the sometimes very flat wind conditions, 66 of 90 races were held. The second division teams, for whom the clash off Friedrichshafen already marked the final, also contributed to this. WVH (Wassersport-Verein Hemelingen), SKBUe (Segelklub Bayer Uerdingen) and MYC (Münchner Yacht-Club) managed to advance directly in the final sprint. WVH sailor Wilhelm von Weyne reported after the breakthrough: "After the bad races this morning, we had almost written off the direct promotion. That we would still do so well in the course of the afternoon was very surprising. We still need to step up our game in terms of training opportunities, but then we'll be ready for the First League." After the first division final in Hamburg, the teams chasing direct promotion will know which relegation-threatened first division teams they will face in the relegation play-off on 8 and 9 November.

Sailing is like a constantly refreshing declaration of love for life."
